Well..looks like I'm off to a pretty slow start for 2008.  We've had some cold weather...snow here and there.  We got an extra day of vacation to start the year off after being out for Christmas and New Years.  Then....we had a day off in January....that ended up being extended a day because of snow/ice.  That was cool!! I like having 3 day work weeks and I enjoy spending time in my craft room on these cold days.

 

We've finished indoor soccer....woo! hoo!!  It's now time to register for Spring sports....the kids will be doing baseball and soccer and I'm going to be coaching softball.  I'm excited!!!  I've been hoping to coach baseball; but of course, these crazy leagues these days are run by men and the 'good ole' boys' who think women belong in the stands.  Fortunately, I found that the girls league was eager to get more women coaches...I jumped on that chance.  I look forward to it...the team I'm getting is an experienced team that is pretty good (from what I've been told).

 

Today, we had a wonderful day.  Our big boy has crossed over from Cub Scouts to Bo Scouts!!!  His dad made a really great arrow to commemorate the years in Cub Scouts.  He did a great job and I think it will be something of special value to him later, once he realizes the significance of his dad's work.  Below is a photo of our big boy with his arrow.  I'm proud of him...even though he does not really understand what he's accomplished.  A lot of what he's done thus far has been mostly mom and dad pushing him.... as a Boy Scout, he will embark upon more adventures that are individualized and more fun...like this weekend's day hike.  Last weekend, he and his fellow Scouts attended a merit badge fair.  He's going to be spending a lot more time away from home with a bunch of boys that will help me become a better man and Scout. We wish him well as he grows into a young man!!!

 

He knows we are VERY proud of him....we love him!!!
