Revolution on a roll...

WOW!!
3 in a row for team REVOLUTION... !

Kaitlyn's team has won their last three games!! How exciting.  They beat team Kickers last night...6-4.  Kaitlyn played goalie (of course) and managed to fend off at least 4 goals.  Just a little insight here...the Kickers do live up to their name...it was brutal in the goal but Kaitlyn held steady.  The few she let past her were just enough to give the Kickers confidence but NOT too much!  The photos I took should show the fun...and one even shows a red ball (they changed it mid-game)...that was coming straight at Kailyn but she missed it!!  Maybe we'll tell it differently in the years to come....maybe that is one of the several she denied them!!!

I'm finding it hard to take photos of the game now because I'm getting into it.  The kids are having fun, the parents are all great parents and the team has a great relationship.  All in ll, the kids are winning and learning.  It will be heartbreaking to see these kids split up next year into the older league....maybe we can convince Coach Tom to keep the team together Open-mouthed

Next game....

Baseball/Softball 4/19

The morning started at 7am for me... it was very cloudy out...had hoped to get rain and rain out the events of the day (not really!).... but we were on the soccer field at 8:30.  I had to step in and coach this weekend...hubby was doing guard duty.  RT had opening day ceremonies at same time at the baseball fields...and ironically, we listened to the Star Spangled Banner just before we kicked off.  I watched from a distance as the official start of JCYB baseball season started under a cloudy sky.

Soccer game was underway and the Revolution needed another win..the last 13-0 win was an example of what they can do.  The game was Revolution v Panthers.  Revolution kicked off and within a few minutes Revolution scored..then our goalie, Kaitlyn a.k.a. "Kricket",  let one by her....game was tied 1-1.  By the half...Revolution were up 3 - 1.  By the end of the 3rd quarter, the ball had never made it beyond the half court line and Revolution got another goal..an assist that was setup from the corner kick and yielded a 4th goal for one kids.  Score was 4-1.  Fourth/last quarter...another player got his first goal and just before the end...one of the girls got her first goal...a beautiful kick cleared the goal.  Score was 6-1 Revolution!!!

At 12:10, Ryan a.k.a. RT took the field...playing as an Astro for the first time in the Major division of Cal Ripken league Astros v Devil Rays...early on they were down by 1.  His game later ended 5-4 Astros lost.  I had to leave to take the field with my softball team, Twisters.  Softball went really bad first two innings once we took the field...we gave up 2 runs on errors...bringing the game to a 3-2 score...Twisters behind.  Those errors would could have haunted us but we got our heads back in the game .. pulled out a win afer a BEAUTIFUL deep to left center hit by our pitcher Gumby that yielded an in-the-park homerun!  Our catcher took several hits today but managed to get on base and steal all the way around.  Two other players got hits that had never hit...one got a double!!  All in all...as you'll see from the pictures...it was a day of winning...

Soccer has begun

Well....can you believe it's soccer season again already!?!?!  Oh..and baseball.  I can't.  Our first soccer game was Monday, April 7th and it was actually warm....the kids had a good time and ended up losing a hard fought game.  Kaitlyn a.k.a. "Kricket"  took a beating in the box...from the VERY well known kicking Cobras!!  She held them scoreless for a while but she wasn't able to fend off the huge kicks and aggressive style of playing.  She walked away with black knees and sore shins.  As a team, they did great to even score.  The second game was today, April 12th.  Baseball had been called and postponed until April 16th...so that meant I got to see the entire soccer game....but man...the weather had turned nasty on us.  We'd had 2 days of rain and today, it was so windy and coooooold.  I was glad we didn't have baseball too...I got to go home and rest before my softball team's first game of the season.  Yeah...I'm coaching softball.   Girls..fastpitch..9-12 year olds...the TWISTERS.  All in all, while we lost...we didn't get shut out!!!  The opponent was the "CRUSH"....a team that is going to live up to the name and take the title this year...but we made them fight for it.  Ending score was 7-4 ...

As a whole....we spent this Saturday between soccer and sofball and can credit ourselves with 5 hours of community service!!!!Open-mouthed

Craaap!! April 08 already!!

Well...so much for doing really good and blogging in 08 huh??  Here it is April and I realized I've not blogged since January.  How do folks do it?? I can't keep up with it monthly and I know some bloggers are on there DAILY..some hourly!!!

April is our very busy month...starts here and won't end now until probably about August.  School gets out later this year, we had so much snow that we have to make up a week...so instead of being out on May 31st...we are getting out June 6 (7th for me).  My kiddos don't seem to care...Ryan will have a 'graduation' from 5th grade...can you believe that!?!?  I don't mean the graduation... I mean the 5th grade part?!  WOW!! I will have a middle schooler in about 4 months!!  What is harder to believe is in 4 months, we'll be back in school.  Won't get much time off this year...since we go back on August 13th.  That is okay really.  I'm beginning to wonder why they don't just do the year around thing anyway.  Won't matter to me...I get paid year 'round and either way, we'll be juggling stuff.

As I said...we are going to be busy.  Kaitlyn is entering her 3rd season in Soccer...dad's second season coaching her.  She promises us she's going to have a great year this year...but havng fun is foremost, learning is second and winning comes if those two happen.  Ryan enters his 6th year of baseball.  He's on the "ASTROS" this year...so I have to go out and find me some Astros gear.  For the past few seasons, we've been fortunte to be Cubbies....so while he still likes the Cubs..he was VERY excited to hear he was on the Astros...his view was this, "Hey mom, I'm playing on a little league farm team for the Lexington Legends...since the Legends is a farm team for the Astros".... NOW... ain't that SMART!!!  Wonder if we could get any of the Legends' folks to come show some love!!! Open-mouthed   Anyway...I'm assistant coaching the "TWISTERS".. a 9-12 year old fast pitch softball team of 13 girls.  I tried desperately to get on the staff of the baseball league...but they only want women to run the concession stands, be team 'mom' or sit quietly and clap when told to.  I hate that!! So I found out the softball teams were looking for women coaches...and jumped on it.  Kaityn wants to play next year and I told her we'd see how good her soccer season is first...it would be hard for her to juggle them both right now; since they start at the same time.  Besides that....as I said...we are just very busy.

Both of them are in scouts.  Ryan and his dad went on their first BOY SCOUT campout recently.  I have photos in my photo library of Ryan with his backpack and the very confident look on his face that he was ready.  They were going to have to hike into the camp site for about 1/2 a mile..then on the Saturday, they were going to go for an 8 mile hike.  They survived and he really enjoyed it.  Ryan reportedly carried his and some of his dad's stuff on the hike without complaining.  He really did enjoy being out in nature and while they forgot the camera...I'm sure he'll never forget it.

As you may have also noticed...the photo album features Ryan's recent ORTHODONTICS regement.  He has my side of the families severe overbite...his is at 8mm!! Surprised  YES...8mm overbite.  Ryan turned out to be a VERY difficult client for the orthodontist.  He has had a 12 yr molar removed (it was growing at an angle into the 6 yr molar).  The 6 year molar is not coming in (we had hoped it would with the 12 year out of the way); so now he has to go get the 6 year molar removed.  There's a name for it, but I never remember it...but basically, the tooth has NO root and it won't drop down...the tooth has barely broken the gum and could cause infection if he gets food in there and can't get it out.  Since that happened...he has NO molars to 'anchor' to and Ryan couldn't wear the traditional head gear or other gears they use to fix overbites.  So...Ryan is this orthodontists first patient to wear what they call the "TWIN BLOCK".  It's molded with teeth like bumpers on it that force him to bite forward and as he grows for the next year or so, we hope to see the overbite being corrected.  Since it's a skeletel thing....we can only try to train the bones to move or he faces surgery...which I will let him decide on that later...right now, we will try this apparatus and see.  He was excited about getting it...I have NO idea why...but he counted down the hours until we had to be there.  He learned quickly how to put it in and take it out...and he's not been defiant about wearing it (YET). I think it'll be like his glasses....he'll wear them because he knows it is helpful to him.  He realizes his overbite is pretty bad and he wants it "fixed".  He had to learn to talk with this in his mouth..which makes me VERY happy we got it while on Spring Break...maybe in the next few days he'll have the talking down so that those kids that can be so cruel at school won't be!!

I spoke of school getting out late....well, Kaitlyn will be going off for a week at Girl Scout camp on the 8th (YES!! Surprised  two days AFTER school is out)...she'll be gone a week and she's so excited!!  She'll be attending a 'horse' camp and that is something she's been hoping to do for a few years now...she's finally old enough.  Ryan is hoping to also be gone then...he's been pratically begging us to get him into the Fish and Wildlife camp (he even brought home a brochure from school)!  Ironically, it's the same week as Kaitlyn's camp...bad thing, he misses 2 baseball games..one being the last game of the season.  Of course, a lot can change by then...games could be pushed around...but that is also the same week I'm suppose to be coaching my softball team in their tournament....

TOLD YOU WE WERE BUSY!!!

Well, I have to go.  I've had 5 days on Spring break and only 1/2 of one day was in my craft room where I had told EVERYONE I was going to hide!  Guess the family stuff is always first.  Behind me is a table I spent 1/2 the time cleaning off yesterday that now houses Ryan's school project that is due two days AFTER Spring break...I really wish his teacher had thought this through...there's NO WAY a student would get this done if they don't work through Spring Break...OH WELL...LIFE IN THE FAST LANE!!

Good bye my readers..... if you are there....
