Well, soccer has come to a close for the season....our little girl just finished her last season as a U8 player....*under 8*.  She will now move to the U10 league...a bit more competitive and the kids are bigger!!!  They ended the season with a GREAT win!  Dynamo got 2 and Revolution got 9.  One of Kaitlyn's teammates...a VERY good player, got 26 or 27 goals this season (that is 11 games!!)  Today alone, he scored 5.  Almost a double 'hat trick'..coach told him as he gave him his soccer ball patches.

 

Speaking of the patches...this season, we got into the season about 3 games and having lost 2 of the 3 we were baffled as to why we couldn't get the team to be a bit more aggressive.  So I did some research and discovered how some teams give out patches to sew/iron on kids uniforms to show their success.  Soccer balls usually signified goals scored, "D" usually signified good defensive player(s), lightning bolts were for those players who played defense/offense and a variety of others.  We adopted a patch system that REALLY motivated our team.  For every win, they would be awarded a gold star that would be applied to their RIGHT sleeve.  For every goal, they got a soccer patch, if our goalies got "D" patches usually for a game won while they occupied the goal or in some cases, if the team lost, they got "D" for being a good defensive player.  The kids got their minds set on things they wanted...be it a lightning bolt or "D"...they each walked away today with SOMETHING they tried hard for.  We lost one girl because of a broken arm...but overall, team revolution ended the season with 8 players that played 11 games...won 7 lost 4...NOT a really bad team this year!!!
